Permission Post

SPOILERS FOR BIOSHOCK HERE. PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

Atlas is a crafty man. As such, he likes to know everything about everyone he meets. Obviously, a lot of things are under encryption and he can't hack most things. In fact, he can probably only hack...50% of things (damn you future people!!). So, if most of your ~deep dark secrets~ are under a lock, then you're probably safe.

HOWEVER, he does have a way of finding things out. He doesn't care about the little things like your favorite color or your favorite food...but he does want to know the places you frequent, who your best friends are, what makes you angry, what your powers are, etc. Things that make you who you are. Why? Because he wants to use them to his advantage, of course!

Now, I know that he can't know everything and I don't want to step on anyone's toes. SO, here's this handy dandy permissions post for all of your needs.

This is an OPT-IN PERMISSION POST; if you don't comment here, then he will know NOTHING about your character besides their name and whatever he can gleam on the open network or on the street.

Example: Say you're Sam Merlotte. If there's no comment from Sam here, then Atlas can know that Sam owns Merlotte's, used to be a slave, lives with Edgeworth, and is a shifter. That's it.

If you're not comfortable letting Atlas know anything, then let me know. I'm totally fine with glossing over your character. No harm, no foul.

If you want to do some plotting, though, you need to fill this out so I know my boundaries with him.

What you need to fill out:

I also have some permissions when it comes to Atlas and his many secrets. Please read these too:

Atlas' Permissions
Can my character know that Atlas is a con? Ask me first. Do not assume, please.
Can my character know Atlas = Fontaine = Gorland? Again, ask me first. His plot hinges on his big con, so I would say no. BUT I am entirely willing to have him be revealed further down the line, so just ask me or check at a later date.
Can my character kill Atlas? Not yet, no. Eventually, I wouldn't mind if he was killed.
Can my character throw him in jail or get him in trouble? Again, not yet. But consequences will happen and they'll be pretty big for him, so I'm fully willing for him to go to jail. Ask again later!
Can my character be the one to reveal his big secret/plot? Ask when the plot gets a little further down the pike. I'd love for someone to reveal it, but again not yet.

That's a lot of "Not Yets". I know. This plot I want to do with him hinges on him being good at his con, and since he's juggling 3 different identities, covering his tracks, and using shapeshifting powers, he should be avoiding most people. Some will catch on that maybe Atlas isn't who he says he is. That's fine with me. But you need to ask permission.

Can my character find out that Fontaine/Gorland is a sleaze? Hell yeah. They're sleazy guys. Feel free to hate them or try to track them down. You might not find them, but feel free to be on the lookout for them.
But don't they look similar? Eh, not really. People saw both Fontaine AND Atlas and never cottoned on to who he was. The same will be true in SP. Their mannerisms are entirely different and he'll make every effort to look different enough, powers or not.

As always, feel free to PM this account or contact me if you have ANY questions, comments, or concerns. I'm open to feedback of all kinds and I'm open to making plot things work for everyone.

Name: Miles Edgeworth ([personal profile] ergomaniac)
What CAN Atlas know about your character? Obviously, he can know the basic stuff - that Edgeworth is a lawyer, that he tangled with AGI, that he has close personal ties to several Newcomers here, and that he's a grotesque idealist. He can also know about Edgeworth's powers. He can also know details about Edgeworth's history - framed for murder once upon a time, history with Von Karma, etc. If you ever want any more details about what Atlas would most likely know, go ahead and PM me!
What CAN'T he know? Nothin' much I can think of! Edgeworth's a fairly open book, so I can't think of any secrets it would screw him up to have explained.
Anything else? Nope!

Name: Rochelle ([personal profile] axemeaquestion)
What CAN Atlas know about your character? Besides the basic stuff, uh... actually, I think anything really! Rochelle's not too secretive unless it's about sensitive work information, but there's still stuff she's not 100% comfortable talking about. I'm okay with Atlas knowing all that. For example: she was killed during one of the Saints Valentines murders and didn't testify because Tom was her friend despite the fact she hated him now. Big emphasis on "was". If anything else comes up that I forgot about I'll make sure I bring it up here but for now I'm good with him knowing anything about her, really!
What CAN'T he know? Like I said, not much I can think of!
Anything else? chicken butt

Name: Claire Stanfield ([personal profile] vinovidivici)
What CAN Atlas know about your character? The basic background stuff. Introduced himself originally by the aliases Vino and Rail Tracer. According to a post by Czeslaw the guy who owns those aliases killed a bunch of people gruesomely on a train. Arrested in December under suspicion of being the viscera killer but later cleared. Also going by the alias Felix Walken in bounty hunting.
Spends most of his time around town, at the boarding house, working at Lion's Gate or doing exercises on the roof/fire escape of his apartment. Very protective of two individuals from his home world - Firo and Chane - and touchy over people he knows being harmed. Dormant power hasn't woken up yet and he's kinda touchy about that too?! Seems to think he's the centre of the universe.
What CAN'T he know?
Whether Czes was telling the truth or not... well, he can make an educated guess!
Anything else? not that I can think of
leading3men: (I will stare)

[personal profile] leading3men 2012-03-03 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Zoey [personal profile] leading3men
What CAN Atlas know about your character? The basics: she's from Rochelle's world, works as a cop, has a dog, and tends to frequent Newcomer bars and the arcade. She was also killed by the Joker and killed a kid by accident while off duty. Most of this is public information.
What CAN'T he know? She's a Carrier for a zombie virus - she keeps that very close to the chest, even though Rochelle has assured her that it's likely that she isn't one. Ditto about her dad, though if the topic of her parents ever comes up, it might be obvious that she's a little uncomfortable.
Anything else? nothing else.

Name: Aurican [personal profile] returnsmagic
What CAN Atlas know about your character? Obviously, he's a dragon that's frequently seen on the docks and the beach. Aurican has been taken notice by SERO, and that for a dragon he is pretty calm and considerate. He doesn't have much of secrets to carry. Aurican's alternate identity is Eurig, an old, unemployed man who is interested in the arts and philosophy. They both have similar personalities.
What CAN'T he know? That Eurig and Aurican are the same person. Sooner or later the truth will come out, but right now I rather wait for that too happen.
Anything else? Nothing else!

Name: Claire Bennet ([personal profile] cheerhealer)
What CAN Atlas know about your character? Everything is fair game.
What CAN'T he know? He can know ... whatever.
Anything else? NO SECRETS.

Name: Butt-Head ([personal profile] youfartknocker)
What CAN Atlas know about your character? Pretty much everything. He's also probably in a serious relationship with nachos.
What CAN'T he know? His age (because wow that's tricky...). I don't know it (because wow Mike Judge way to keep ages static), I'm pretty sure Butt-Head doesn't know it, and ... it's complicated.
Anything else? ONLY ONE SECRET.
allucinator: (Default)

[personal profile] allucinator 2012-03-04 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Jack Kelly ([personal profile] allucinator)
What CAN Atlas know about your character?
*That Jack has been to several worlds
*That Jack has been a slave and has been kidnapped by Black Mask
*If he's combing through the NV entries very, very carefully, he might see a few mentions of an asylum, but nothing is confirmed.
*That Jack has had David come to SP, and, further, that David was murdered a month after he'd arrived.
*That Jack is awful at handling grief.

What CAN'T he know?
*That Jack was held in a mental asylum. He'll probably end up telling him someday, but it's not super-common knowledge.

Anything else? Nothing I can think of!
ace_of_knaves: Hipster filters. Hipster filters everywhere. (the villain of the black blood)

[personal profile] ace_of_knaves 2012-03-05 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Name: The Joker ([personal profile] ace_of_knaves)
What CAN Atlas know about your character? Most things about the Joker are public knowledge: He's an insane serial killer who looks like a clown, he has a passion for the dramatic and only does things if he thinks it's funny. He is also imprinted on the Batman.
What CAN'T he know? The clown's Core power. Joker himself doesn't even know he has it.
Anything else? Remember Joker is a cunning, manipulative supervillain himself! He is hard to manipulate, and if he senses he's being used in any way he may lash out.

Name: Guybrush Threepwood ([personal profile] mighty_pirate)
What CAN Atlas know about your character? Guybrush is an open book.
What CAN'T he know? I can't foresee anything.
Anything else? Guybrush ALSO hates being manipulated, but it's easier to get to him than it is to get to the Joker. He's also less likely to retaliate violently.

Name: Deadpool (the_dead_pool2)
What CAN Atlas know about your character? Deadpool works at Fangtasia, serves as a bouncer/enforcer there. He is a registered bounty hunter. He enjoys going out to party, and also enjoys time spent going to the arcade. He lives at the HoA, has a solid knowledge of gun weaponry, and is also crazy.
What CAN'T he know? The full extent of his healing factor. He's mentioned it once or twice, but hasn't gone into full details about it.
Anything else? Deadpool really likes chimichangas and nachos.

Name: Character Name (tea_lover64)
What CAN Atlas know about your character? Iroh has some experience with martial arts, and is helping out at the dojo a few times a week. He is a manager at Brooke's, and is known for his love of tea. He likes to try and experience the city, discover new tastes, particularly tea shops. He currently is residing at the House.
What CAN'T he know? Iroh is actually an extremely powerful firebender, and is far more fit then he lets on. He has also never mentioned to anyone here his previous military or bureaucracy experience.
Anything else? He gives off wise man vibes, and seems to have a good grasp on life in general. He is generally a good judge of character, but even to those he distrusts he will be polite.

Name: Xellos (that_is_asecret)
What CAN Atlas know about your character? Xellos is a priest, he is living at the Uzushio Ryokan. He knows the small child Phibrizzo there, and knows and demonstrates a knowledge of magic. He is unusually cheerful about a great many things, and many consider him a bit suspicious.
What CAN'T he know? Xellos is a member of the Mazoku race, and feeds upon negative emotion.
Anything else? He never outright lies, but leaves out some details, or might make people make their own conclusions. For instance he will never state "I am human" but he might say "Don't I look human?" or something to that effect.

[personal profile] where_the_hearth_is 2012-03-05 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
Name: the HOUSE [personal profile] where_the_hearth_is
What CAN Atlas know about your character? He can know that the House is an AI from ~5000 years in the future, that it's kind of a domestic drama queen, and that it has allowed various people to stay in it. If Atlas is particularly interested in AIs, this thread is open and has a lot of discussion about the nature of machines in House's world.
What CAN'T he know? Anything House locks is pretty much super-unhackable, but it doesn't bother to lock much, because it doesn't have many secrets.
Anything else? It's plausible that the House would notice concerted NV research efforts, and it would definitely notice someone attempting to hack it/its threads. It would be more likely to laugh and say hi and ask why he was snooping than be mad, so if you want to have some CR that way, it can happen, or the House could just ignore it if you'd rather it not get involved.

Name: Griffin O'Conner | [personal profile] classdismissed
What CAN Atlas know about your character? Griffin plays his secrets close to the chest, but he is super easy to read. A con who knows how to read people could figure him out fairly easily. So Atlas can know just about anything about him.
What CAN'T he know? Nothing comes to mind.
Anything else? I want your bad romance.

[personal profile] needtobecleaned 2012-03-07 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Name:KOS-MOS(Mary Magdalene) | [personal profile] needtobecleaned
What CAN Atlas know about your character? That she's an android, that she's from the future and that her eyes mysteriously change color on occasion. Oh, and that she has a kitten named Yeshu.
What CAN'T he know? That she's the awakened Mary Magdalene and both of them have control over the body (not at the same time)
Anything else? Nothing I can think of.
